The 5th UKM All-Inside ACL Reconstruction Live Surgery Course is an advanced certification programme for orthopaedic surgeons specialising in ACL reconstruction. It took place on 5–6 February 2026 at the Auditorium and Operating Theatre, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), UKM Kuala Lumpur.
This two-day course combines scientific discussion, hands-on demonstrations, and live surgery, giving participants a complete learning experience in modern ACL reconstruction techniques.
On the first day, participants joined in-depth discussions on all-inside ACL reconstruction techniques. Sessions highlighted the latest advances, including:
Blood flow restriction (BFR) rehabilitation
Post-operative care and return-to-play strategies
Moreover, live demonstrations illustrated key surgical steps. Participants also benefited from mentorship sessions, allowing direct interaction with experts. These discussions encouraged questions, case sharing, and clinical insights.
As a result, surgeons left with a clear understanding of advanced ACL reconstruction principles and practical applications.
The second day focused on real-time surgical training in the operating theatre. The session began with MUIB graft preparation using donor tissue, showing step-by-step handling and graft readiness.
Next, Assoc. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Badrul Akmal Hisham, lead surgeon and Medical Director of KL Orthosports, performed the all-inside ACL reconstruction. Other participants, all specialised in ACL surgery, observed and engaged in the procedure.
Throughout the live surgery, critical surgical decisions and technical nuances were explained in detail. Therefore, attendees gained practical, hands-on knowledge to apply in their own clinical practice.
This course strengthens surgical skills, technical confidence, and clinical decision-making for orthopaedic surgeons. Furthermore, it demonstrates how MUIB and modern ACL techniques can improve patient outcomes and recovery.
Ultimately, the 5th UKM All-Inside ACL Reconstruction Live Surgery Course reinforces UKM’s commitment to advanced orthopaedic education, patient safety, and evidence-based care in Kuala Lumpur and across Malaysia.
